Age: Between 18 and 26 years for Germany 🇩🇪

Age: Between 18 and 30 years for France 🇫🇷
Family Status: Single with no children
Language: Basic German or French skills (minimum A2 level)
Health: Good physical and mental well-being
Personality: A genuine interest in caring for children
Documents: A valid passport
Preferred: Prior childcare experience (babysitting, volunteering in a nursery, etc.)

Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr FSJ, Bundesfreiwilligendienst BFD and Freiwilliges Ökologisches Jahr FÖJ


Volunteering programs in Germany for foreigners, such as the Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr (FSJ), Bundesfreiwilligendienst (BFD), and Freiwilliges Ökologisches Jahr (FÖJ), allow you to gain experience in social, cultural, and ecological fields while immersing yourself in German culture. FSJ and FÖJ are generally for individuals under 27, while the BFD has no upper age limit. Participants require a visa obtained from a German embassy in their home country and must provide a valid passport, a motivational letter, a contract with a German organization, proof of financial means (if not provided), and typically A1 or A2 German language skills.

Bundesfreiwilligendienst (BFD) (Federal Volunteer Service):
This is the most flexible option, open to people of all ages (over 18) and backgrounds. You can volunteer in areas like social work, cultural institutions, and sports.
Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr (FSJ) (Voluntary Social Service Year):
Typically for those under 27, it's a pathway to gaining experience in social services.
Freiwilliges Ökologisches Jahr (FÖJ) (Voluntary Ecological Year):

Visa Requirements for Foreigners
Visa Application:
As a non-EU citizen, you must apply for a volunteer visa at the German Embassy or Consulate in your home country before you travel to Germany.
Required Documents:
You'll need a completed application form, a passport, passport photos, a birth certificate, school leaving certificates, a curriculum vitae (CV), a letter of motivation, and a contract from the hosting organization.
Financial Proof:
You must show proof of sufficient financial means if your hosting organization doesn't cover accommodation and food.
Language Skills:
A certificate of A1 or A2 German language skills is generally needed, although this can vary depending on the specific program.
Program Structure and Benefits

Programs usually last for 12 months but can range from six to 24 months.

Most programs involve full-time work, typically around 38.5 to 40 hours per week.

The African Foreign Languages Arts Academy Cultural Center (AFLAACC) is preparing to launch its international volunteer program. Soon, young people, professionals, and culture enthusiasts from around the world will be able to join us in Victoria Falls to share their skills, engage in cultural exchange, and experience the warmth of Zimbabwean hospitality.
